Alright so I got lazy and made our cameraman Mark come to my house for this week’s shoot! But we cover some great topics, one of which is our City Talk of the week!! So Golshiftheh Farahani has created quite a buzz by being the 1st actress living in Iran to shoot an American movie (not to mention a big budget film with A-list actors!) However, the Iranian government is not so thrilled. What do you guys think? I’m not questioning the strict laws of the government because we all know that’s pointless. But how cool is Golshifteh for going against the govt.’s back and doing her thing?! I think her boldness was pretty awesome. What do you guys think? Was it a positive step forward or just dangerous and not smart on her part?
Oh & 1 more thing? Did anyone watch Hillary Clinton’s DNC Speech??? It was so inspiring and moving and flawless…it brought me to tears! Thoughts?

be nazare man golshifteh f. should respect the Islamic rules however she should take part in the Hollywood movies by waring a head scarf or a wig because she would support the Iranians in Iran and out of Iran and also our country iran . when i watched the city talk laden said sth bout being sexist i felt a bit sorry for her . its not about being sexist its our religion unless you don’t know that and all she is acting in a country where we it does not allow us to have a nuclear energy and it is our enemy .why do you think they even wanted golshifteh to play in a movie like that , the movie is about war in Iraq and she is acting as an Arabian or ?. It is all part of there plans . I’m actually happy that she is playing in a movie like that and the fact that she is going to play in another movie is crazy however its not because she is a woman it is also because of our religion . Now that she is acting in another movie in Hollywood probably the Iranian actors would want to have Carrier in Hollywood but you never maybe the men aren’t allowed to be in an American movie.
for you who have no idea what I’m talking about or not in to Islam or Iran and don’t give a shit about the Iranian government , I’m sorry that you think that i wrote a lot of crab but this is the truth .

Kamran, manam fekr nemikonan Golshifteh ba in film chizy ro avaz kone…but it was a bold step on her part to do what she wants without obtaining permission from the govt.!
Sara, thank you for your “nazar” but your right, I do think what you wrote is a bunch of crap but only because what you claim to be the truth is arbitrary! Oh and Sara, don’t mix up the Iranian government with the religion of Islam, and don’t put them under the same category! It’s because of the fanatics, the mullahs, the headliners and Khomeini that we are enforced to wear headscarfs…it’s not enforced by the religion of Islam! If you don’t know that, then maybe I should feel sorry for you. By the way, there’s no conspiracy and no “plan” it’s just a damn movie and they didn’t pick her because she is a woman or because of her religion but because she is a good actress and she’s beautiful and of course they needed a Middle Eastern “look” to portray the role. And who cares if Iranian actors should want careers in Hollywood–lots of actors from all over the world have crossed over to become big names in America: Audrey Tatou, Aishwara Rai…etc. Also, again your right, I don’t know what your talking about only because it lacks basis and structure, not to mention validity! Also I may not be religious but I know about the Islamic religion, about the current govt. and about MY country to get offended by your incoherent blog!
Maryam: The movie comes out October 10!

Golshifteh is sucha an awesum person. She came to one of the local masjids in so cal, great personality, khali azash khosham omad. Her and i think mohammad reza (hope thats his name) are my fave iranian actors. But golshifteh is a sweetheart.
As for the rest of the posts, its a shame that we iranians cannot respect individual ideas. Sara or ladan or whatever alias she goes by has her own set of ideas as do everyone else. Its fine not to agree but i see us separating when we are all hamvatans.
Lastly i believe nothing will happen to golshifteh, and the only ones who opposed her starting role is a few conservatives ( i say a few because i read quotes of other conservatives praising the role of an iranian-muslim women playing in a hollywood movie and differentiating between the iranian nation and neighboring countries). Also its written above that she went against the governments back, lets be practical, no one no matter no where would survive if they went against their government, they would be wiped out no matter who they are. Golshifteh started in a movie and she will return back home to her normal life and career. Lets not blow things out of proportion.
Other than that i do not believe iran to be sexists country, after all we are not the country that rather pick an african american over a women or have its own people mock the idea of having a female president (if you have ever seen interviews of americans in the midwest, south, and some east cost states you would know what im talking about).

i didn’t know who she was because i hate iranian movies and my opinion on sara’s post is NOT EVERY WOMAN LIKES WEARING THE HIJAB!!!!!- sorry for the caps but i just had to do the caps. anyhow i hate the govt. there are motherf***in’ a**holes but the actress isn’t well known so she probaly won’t become a superstar after it.

I hate it if someone put the iranian government and the Islam into the same category….because the govt. misusesthe religion (Islam) to excuse their horrible atrocities, abuses, torture, killing of the innocent people, etc…
I really enjoy reading Ladan`s well put and excellent comment!!
And I was so excited to hear that Golshifteh Farahani acts in this Hollywoodfilm…I will definitely watch this film, because I think that Golshifteh Farahani is the best iranian actor!!!

Golshifteh farahani is another victim of this government, regime whatever you wanna call it this regime is like a Cancer we need radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery.. every thing to get rid of it, Shirin Ebadi’s speech at a youth peace conference in Los Angeles made me laugh ! they really need to revoke her nobel prize !! talking about U.S shouldnt attack Iran because that would expand government’s powers and limit freedoms !! haha what a joke !! as if we had any freedom in Iran, as if all these innocents students, intellectual, scientists in Iran who are tortured and executed with a 5 min so-called ”trial” in a islamic socalled”court of justice” are waiting for Ms Ebadi to peacefully come and save them !! of course we need military action to get rid of this 30 yrs old cancer !! Shirin Ebadi needs to stay in U.S and help her country from here rather than prescribing aspirin to cure the cancer !!
