Hello to all our viewers, in particular you for taking the time to read this particular blog! We thank you for watching Bebin.tv, and appreciate you especially for coming to our blog page to leave comments and give feedback! The Bebin.tv team LOVE hearing from you and we are thrilled to know that you like our programs enough to keep coming back for more! These last couple weeks we have been experimenting with conducting some of our programs in English, and while many of you are upset or disappointed, the truth is that speaking in English allows us to reach out to a higher number of viewers around the globe! Everyone at bebin.tv speaks Farsi (some obviously better than others), most of us speak Swedish and a couple of us Spanish as well….but in the end, we all speak English…and this is what we have noticed with our viewers as well! While our programs will continue to be geared towards 2nd generation Iranians, this is a heads up that some of the programs will be in English. We hope you understand and respect our decision on a business level! With love, Bebin.tv

In my opinion you guys are making a huge mistake. You have something very unique here. Yes your advertisers think you will have more exposure if everything is done in English because there is a bigger audience but you wont be a hit. Be realistic, many of the jokes are geared towards iranians and noniranians will never figure it out. Moreover, why would noniranians come to this website when there are other websites or tv shows that offer jokes they can relate it too?
Another reason you should keep like the way it was (only partially english), because in doing so you are helping prolong your culture and language. What percentage of second or third generation iranian immigrants do you think speak farsi?
Instead of trying to gain a couple of bucks with more advertising, allow for users to donate money. Keep perfecting what you guys were doing before you changed everything to full english and eventually you will receive more and more advertising. It will take time.
I’m not a business man, but business 101 says you have a chance to make more money if you do invent something unique and make that unique product desired…. look at the ipod. everyone tried to copy it but no one came close to it.

It’s an interesting decision to make more segments in English than Farsi. Not only may the economics make sense to do so but the realization that some who watch your programs speak much more English than Farsi (and may not even be Iranian) might make it a prudent decision. However, your language is your culture and I am sure you will not lose of sight of that.

I don’t agree with full English programs as well. I also believe you guys have a unique channel and TV. any effort to make it full English is a mistake. I prefer you guys talk in our mother language rather than English coz in this way I feel better connection to your programs. Otherwise why should I watch your TV in English anyway if the programs are all like other American channels with same scripts and wasting of time story lines?
Regarding biz level. that is a challenge and I bet you have known it from the beginning. it is a challenge for every startup. you might want to ask your readers about solutions if you can not solve the issue. I am sure among your readers, there are enough smart people to give you practical hints.

I am totally agree with Iman,
For complete change to English first you should change your TV name. BEBIN Tv. to SEE Tv. Or WATCH Tv.
Second you may lose many of your Iranian viewers, I do not know if it would be important for you or not.
Many of your programs have an Iranian structure and as Iman said would be interesting and make fun for Iranian people. You all think in an Iranian way and could not produce really close program to west culture even if you had a long life there.
Talking partially English could be attractive for both Iranian and non-Iranian people and both of them try to understand the show as well as they can. You as Iranian people first and as TV program producers have a great responsibility for introducing your native culture, language and etc. So do not forget that besides earning money, what the main target is.
For getting much more advertises and doing your business, you may have some other complete English programs separately or finding other methods. But remember that with the Iranian team with Iranian thinking, your English programs could not bring you many Iranian and non-Iranian viewers. So you will lose both sides.
If your target is just having much more money from advertises by changing the language of programs completely to English, so please just inform us. We will advertise your TV for our foreign friends, but will never watch your programs in future.
Do not forget, you are Iranian and your native language is Farsi (even if you know many languages), and do not forget your main responsibilities.
Thanks a lot and hope you select the best procedure.

I’m an Englishman living in England (I am neither Christian, Jew or Muslim) and have been searching for some Iranian input in my own language, especially news from an Iranian perspective. I am ashamed of my own country’s involvement in suppressing your culture and arming your enemies… we not all opposed to you, some like me want to build bridges and understand. Some even have sympathy with your countries political objectives. I am getting on in years and am unlikely to find a decent Farsi teacher in Somerset, England, so having some broadcasts in English helps enormously.
