Vpod! “Warring Factions”

January 21st, 2008 · 17 Comments

Trailer of Upcoming Short Film! It’s a film about war & identity…about wanting to simply be yourself without others labeling you, judging you or expecting you to be something you’re not. It’s a film about a boy who was raised by an American mother and an Iranian father, to him they were probably just “mom” and “dad” until society had it’s go! Like most of us, as he got older and realized the complexity of the world he began to ask questions?

What do you think?

    Hey Payam,

I think this is great that bebin.tv is doing this, even though I agree with you that this guys is nuts and his film is pro arab etc…

Its funny how these people always tend to blame the west, specially the USA, everybody EXCEPT the Iranian government.

Are tension hight between the USA and Iran, sure! but its not one sided.

I’m ashamed of Iranians who always show hate towards Arabs. There is a word for that and it’s called racism. If we want to be true Iranians or Persians, we need to respect all peoples beliefs and cultures. I’m not Muslim but let me tell you that Islam has contributed so much to the Iranian Culture. If you don’t belive me just read some books that give facts not opinions. So if you want to be a true Iranian try to live according to what Zoroaster said, “good thoughts, good words, good deeds.”

    Hi Saeed,
The ones that come to my mind right now are:
Persian Poetry, Arts, music…etc. As you might know most of our famous poets were well versed in Quran; there is also the development of Persian classical music and its roots.
On a side note, Islam did not contribute fanaticism to Iranians, it is up to individuals how fanatic they want to be and as you know there are fanatics in other religions too like Christians, Jews and even Zoroastrians. A person can be religious and not hurt others and live a good life and there are many Muslims and Arabs like that but unfortunately many Iranians today like to generalize which only shows how narrow-minded we can be.

Hey Payam listen, I agree that Iranians were great people and the whole world looked up to us back in the Cyrus days or before Islam, but whatever problems are facing Iran right now is not because of Arabs or the Muslim religion. The problem is us, the Iranians, otherwise there are so many Arab and Muslim countries who are living with comfort and freedom like Morocco, Bahrain, or Jordan.
So it is the Iranians who must change their way of thinking.

hell no……..Persian poets in koran WTF….Iam just confused….Iam kinda in doubt dat if u can even think…any retarded person know what \de PERSIAN culture and poetry was before ISLAM and what happend to it after ISLAM took place……wat Arabs ppl had done dat time is a disaster(burning our books and doz kinda wild stuff)………and dey re still dumbass-remember dey wanted to change persian gulf !?…and some of dem still considered PERSIAN guld as an Arabian gulf !!

Toofan thanks for your reply, now i kind of disagree , since this was iranians who contributed toward music art poetry, math and so on, you right that poets such as Hafiz have used alot from quran in their books but we have ferdausi too who took 30 years to clean up the mess , we had great singers and musical instrument way before islam, we had kings and kingdoms and governorship is the main thing they learnt from us, iranians thought them alot and helped them alot (by force or willingly) to spread islam and yet you dont find any arab country who befirends us they all see us as ajams( non arabs) which is the start of racism in itslef, we had women in governments women had even rights with men but all these changed now woman cant even drive in saudi arabia or a woman who was raped by several men gets sentenced to prison for being accompanied by non related male? and all this is according to quran! do you consicer this contribution toward a great history and great culture? Thanks for discusstion anyway

have a look its graduation from one of muslim countires thanks god these people are educated….
now let me tell you few things islam has contributed toward our culture, sex with underage girls is ok (as soon as a girl is 9 then she is up for grab) woman doesnot take same heritage as man (they only worth half a man ) this is also ture in court system a woman’s testimony is only worth half of those of a man. I am not necessarily anti_arab but you might be right that arabs are living in comfort (thanks to the oil money) but its because islam comes from arabs and this might suit their lifestyle, after all thats how they got all the power and money (wars, killing others taking over their belongings like wealth and their wives, and forcing their believes with the help of sward…..).

I know many Iranians feel this way and see Islam as the cause of Iran’s problems. However I don’t see it that way. We must not confuse fanatical Muslim clergy, dictatorship governments, extremist parties or terrorist groups with Islam. Although they follow Islam and say that they are doing what Quran says, it is not true and we can only realize this if we really investigate it and not judge stuff by what we see or hear in the news, or by what other misguided Persians say. Many of the things that you say Muslims did or do which are not acceptable for today’s standards is true but it is not fair to say that these teachings did not improve the lives of people back then and for several centuries later because then people were very different than now. We can not contradict ourselves and say we have great Persian poets like Hafez, Saadi, Rumi, etc. or great architecture, or other arts that are linked with Islam and then say that Islam has not contributed to our culture. And my feelings about Arabs are the same as any other human being. To me every one is the same and I don’t consider myself better just because I’m Iranian or my country had a history of few thousand years. There are Iranians who do evil and at the same time talk with great pride about how Iranians are such good people or blame Islam for everything. I respect all religions and all people and life has taught me that if you go against that you will not live a happy life in the long run!
