It’s not a laughing matter that Mostafa Ghorbani is homeless. It also comes as no surprise that he clearly has mental issues. Mostafa speaks further about the candid details of his life as a homeless, but at some point what may be the truth and what clearly is not have become so convoluted it’s obvious Mostafa himself is confused. His words, demeanor and entire existence seems to negate anyone’s efforts to try and turn his life around. Isn’t that the main problem? A mentally healthy man would never reach out for a helping hand before looking in the mirror first. What happens when a man has gone too far towards the deep end? Will he wind up homeless another 14 years? Will people get together to help him somehow? Or, will he die on the streets without anyone knowing or caring?

Instead of attempting to find him a place to stay for a few nights, or as he himself calls it, “being passed around,” why don’t we try to find a way to fund him to stay at a reasonable mental institution in LA? Giving him a job, house, or money will not change him. He can take all that to Vegas, again. I’d be willing to pitch in. You have enough viewers on this site who I’m sure would also contribute. The difficult part would be convincing him to try it out. What does he have to lose?

I don’t agree,what he needs really is all of that ,
A-mental, psychology support via a therapist + B- a decent place to live and relax + C-an easy job to start with (mail-room, supply-room type of job) I m sure he can do this type of job, the effort required in this type of job is nothing compared to what he has to do every day to survive on the skid row. I m sure his tendency to complain about his physical condition comes from his plan to obtain disability from the state of California.
Bottom line is only the therapy will fail in his case if he is still under all the physical and mental stress and attacks that his current life style involves.
my idea is why bebin.tv wouldn’t use this guy in one of their cleaning or mail-room staff and offer him some session with a solid PhD psychologist and follow him as a reality-tv documentary through out his progression. I m sure its going to be watched and followed by a lot of people and possibly its has the potential to bring the attention of other media and of course people’s donation, this way at least the creation of this new online TV channel would have really changed someone’s life ! way more original than the Mac vs PC style type of ads against other Persians Satellite TV Channels, its funny because if I remember well, Babak and Tiam has made a little sketch a while ago about 2 so-called homeless drug-addict ashghar and ashghar, It’s funny how some times parody joins the reality.

I agree with payam more than the rest of you guys. the first option is to try to fix his mental problem, THEN if he shows some change and makes people believe that he really doesn want to live like a normal person, we can start helping him out financially. but still the mental problem comes first.
and after all these, if he still fails to live right, then i personally would just stop worrying about him, and leave him alone to live the rest of his life the way that he wants to do. it might sound rude, but you can only help people out up to some level, and the rest is on their own. no body deserves a fully supported life with no effort from their own side.

He has severe chronic physical pain that has resulted to incapacitate his mental normal functioning. This person needs food and home comfort to fight his physical and mental chronic pains.
He needs his pains be acknowledged.

Dear Babak, as matter of fact I just came to write down the things that you already mentioned. I believe, mostafa living in the imaginary life that he made for himself and nobody can not help him exept him. All the people love to the other people take care of them and buy a house or keep them in their own place ,although it’s not posible. Sorry guys my english is not good enough to explain more clearly. I’m not pretty sure can I leave a comment in Farsi or not.
one more thing babak jan, as a suggestion it would be better to doing this kind of interview by tiam or raha who can talk farsi better and more fluently. but good job body we love you anyway

most of homeless people chose to be homeless, if he didnt want to live on the street and wanted to have a place to live, 14 years ago he was much younger and healthier n by now he wouldnt be like this. The guy has schizophrenia (or at least he has the symptoms). What he says about Vegas is just a delirium. But it doesn’t seem to be a sever case, it’s probably just a mild schizophrenia. He has a good chance of getting better by medication. If he does, he’ll be able to manage a reasonable life. His most urgent need is to see a psychotherapist.
