We just received a complain email regarding the Gazolin music video called Jendeh.
The person who complained stated that the lyrics were offensive, he’s disappointed and has lost respect for us.
What do you guys think? What is the tolerance level in our community towards cursing in entertainment in compare to other nationalities.
Let us know your views.

It is not about “the tolerance level”. It is about the culture. I am on the side of the person who has complained and I believe it is unethical to have that video in your tv. Because people with different ages watch it, teenagers, junior youths and youths and it might have aan awful influence on them. and you or anyone else can not pay it off in anyway. when we can try to be positive, then why do we intend to be negative?

I don’t want get into the tolerance toward cursing in Iranian culture, however I have an answer to the person who complained about the music video.
I really enjoyed that music Video and I actually did post it on my Blog as well. This is Rock Song, and in Rock lyrics cursing is not a taboo. If you don’t like this style of music just click to watch something else because there are many people out there they do like such a music. Thanks again Bebin.tv for posting this video music.

Well, it’s a cultural thing. Today’s MTV generation is used to the phrases such as B***h, F**k etc. How ever the Iranian culture does not really approve of such words used in lyrics. Just as Vafa mentioned since people among the different age groups tune in to your shows maybe it would be best to avoid such phrases. On the other hand we do listen to such lyrics when ever we go out clubbing, and there most of us don’t really react to it since it’s in English and not in Persian. Which is a double standard I know. And I’m sure that the younger Iranian generation is exposed to this kind of lyrics as well, inside or out side Iran. Maybe not that much for those inside Iran. My suggestion is that if we (considering my self as a Bebin:er
) want to show videos or shows that might contain such phrases, at the beginning of the show/video a warning text is shown giving notice of the content. You know like the stickers that are on most Rap CD‘s. There by it’s the viewers choice if he or she want to listen or not.

Well Agree that iraninas don’t tolerate any kind of cursing, and that’s something very good that we should be proud of . On the other hand, GoZlin, has a right to express his feeling, however he wants, and that’s what makes this song, a good song. However, I think Bebin Tv should bleep the word, or re-word it (meaning say something that sounds like the word but not as offensive as it is now) or whatever that would hide the actuall word. My explanation is, by doing that, you can keep everybody happy. for example, you play a rock song and the video(so rock fan would be happy), parents can feel comfortable enought that they kids aren’t watching anything expliced(?), and the most important part, bebin tv’s female fan, won’t get offended.
I also like to say something to “Liquid”, that kids love to curse. So “Parental Advisory” lego not only wouldn’t stop the kid from watching the show, it would make him curious to see what is the parental advisory for. you know what i’m saying bro?
So in conclution, I think bebin tv should just bleep, muted, or re-word J*****, in order to keep everybody happy..
cause i hate to see someone, been mad at Bebin.TV..:)

I just can not understand why we should be using such language? The singer could express his feelings in a polite way whi I think is far bettter than what it is now.

If the singer were to express his feelings in a “polite manner’” the song would really just not have the same effect that it does. If rap music had no curse words in it would it have the same effect? It’s the genre of music and as an individual you have the choice to listen to it or not. It’s out there for whoever is interested in that type of music, whether the singer being Iranian or not its still the type of music that is out there for that person who enjoys listening to it. For example I hate country, so you don’t see me listening to country, but there are plenty of people who love that genre. Some people love bad words in music and some people hate it. Freedom of choice is a wonderful thing. I think it’s fine having it up even though I don’t particularly like the song =)

There is no purpose for cussing other than to get quick attention. There are better ways to express yourself without showing such low class. It’s cheap and easy to cus, quite frankly primitive. It takes a level of intellegence to express yourself without taking the cheap easy way out by cussing to express anger. If Bebin.TV keeps supporting this type of material then it’s no better than what MTV has become and it WILL loose viewers. Even MTV respects other cultures media. It’s opening up an Arabic version which will not be as scandalous as MTV America for a reason. This is NOT what second generation television should be and there’s way better things Bebin.TV can cover rather than this poor excuse of “art.”
