September 12th, 2007 · 6 Comments

Alright Everyone… we’re in the works on a program and we could use all of your feedback….

Answer me this…What makes someone more Iranian than another… we need to have defining factors of what makes you more Iranian then the next Iranian… is it your taste in Iranian music, your taste in the food (or skill in making it)… your taste of the culture…etc…

Please be specific as some of these will be used by us on the show….

its my overall awesomeness that makes me so persian, and my love for the food, but i think its my underestanding. just call us persian : In 1935, Reza Shah Pahlavi announced that all Western countries should use the name of “Iran” in their languages too. Opponents claim that this act brought cultural damage to the country and separated Iran from its past in the West, and caused many people to confuse it with Iraq (an Arab state west of Iran). During World War II, in fact, Winston Churchill ordered that the name “Persia” be used for all government documents so as to avoid this confusion.

also we speak parsi! : Farsi is another form of pronunciation of the original word (Parsi) meaning Persian. Farsi has been the local name for the language ever since the Arab invasion, whereby they were forced to speak Arabic for several centuries. In Arabic the phoneme /p/ does not exist, hence the pronunciation being altered to an /f/. In linguistic usage

Its about not forgetting who you are and your culture and traditions. Its much easier to take on a dominant and prevelant western culture. Take Iranian music, food, birthday celebrations, Norooz, …etc. to another level. None of these traditions are supposed to remain unchanged, but don’t deluted it with going on the path of least resistance.

Stay with kabob (meat) or Kokoo(vegi) and don’t give up the Iranian or Persian perspective.

    Ahh, This is simple.
First of all, being able to speak the language.
secondly, knowing the history of our 2500 years of being Persian.
Thirdly…well thirdly, being able to call yourself Iranian I guess…And not Kurd, Turk, Or fars…Or any other.
If Iran was just many seperate cultures, we would be sore losers. Being together however, has saved us from many invaders or politics. =-]

Knowing that everything that is good about being Iranian has come from being Persian it’s the same thing both filled will passion and history.
What make’s you more Iranian than the next person is to keep our culture alive we have the best food, the best celebrations, the best music ….Living in England my English friends celebrate everything that is in our culture with me.
Being Iranian is in your heart and sole in every breath you breath because we are who we are and proud of it. xx
