Bebin Investigates - Raw Eggs with Chelo!

I’ve always wondered who came up with the idea of eating eggs yolk with “chelo kabab”. So I’ve hit the streets with a mission! To find out where this tradition comes from and who still eats it!

    On Bebin Food - Vietnamese resturant:

    A good idea and really couragous of you. I’m into trying unusual food as well, but haven’t tasted most of those things you tried at all… had a chance at worms, but didn’t dare … :o
    Actually, Vivo Fridhemsplan in Stockholm does sell this meat: pytonorm (python) 1099 kr/kg, skallerorm (rattle snake) 999 kr/kg, krokodil 429 kr/kg (croc) :))

    BTW: Eel’s called Maar Mahi, guys… :D

    PS I had no Idea that fridhemsplan’s Vivo sells that kind of meat.
    The ICA in my neighborhood, Liljeholmen, had only seafood deli.

    :D haha, no, it’s a new feature ;) I actually had all the prices ‘coz I got so wierded out I sent an SMS with the info to my friends. (Also, my info is 2 months old … can’t believe anybody’d buy it so who knows if they still sell it :o )
    I live close to Liljeholmen and the ICA there doesn’t really count now, does it ;) Actually, bought the candy with the worm in it (the worm I never dared taste) in Midsommarkransen… + a candy with a cricket in it (which I didn’t dare taste either, I’m ashamed to say -sorta). Hahaha.
    You guys did good anyway :)

    On the Cholo with egg:
    My mom sometimes serves that. We separate the white from the yolk and serve it in the eggshell. The rice has to be hot to cook the yolk just a tiny bit I’ve heard. It’s delicious!

    I too, have no idea where it started :/ but I guess it might be to make the rice more ‘juicy’ instead of using butter + it’s nutricious - obviously.

    Hello again,

    The donuts segment I enjoyed! Haven’t seen the ‘donut behind the seen’ before :D although my mom used to make those when I was little. When Randy put them in the oven I thought ‘well now, not too much fat after all’… then came the hot fat bath … :O O, MY GOD
    Babak, you did a good job on those donuts, too *tummen upp*.

    Thanks,,,Tiam is always bugging me,,, \\He calls me once or twice a week in the middle of the night and ask how to boil some pasta,,,
    if you click on Life channel and then go in to Search and type in Food, you will see all the food shows..

    He’s a liar Shadi! Don’t listen to him, I’m the one who teaches him how to cook the food before the camera starts to roll.
